What is Kids X-Press?

Kids X-Press, Inc. is an award winning non-profit organization whose mission is to promote learning, literacy and leadership. We encourage children of all abilities, from all ethnic, social and economic backgrounds to express their opinions and feelings through their writing and artwork.  Every child has a story to tell, a message to convey, a picture to draw, or an experience to relate. These stories become an important tool through which children learn to express themselves and proclaim to others information about their world. This helps to lay the foundation for understanding and accepting each other's differences while discovering similarities in a world filled with diversity.  Validating their work through publishing fosters a safe environment for their thoughts.  Self-expression is a means by which children can discover their self-worth and feel the pride that accomplishment brings.  Small but meaningful successes have the capacity to transform children into high achievers. Kids -Press has a multi lingual approach and can publish magazines in many different languages.

How did Kids X-Press start?

Responding to the desire of their own children to have their writing published, the founders of Kid-Press began publishing an elementary-school newspaper. The benefit to the children was tremendous. The simple act of seeing their creations in print had the most profound effect on all of them, regardless of ability. Inspired by this experience, Kids X-Press, Inc., was born.

Due to the overwhelming demand for our magazine, we have increased our annual distribution to over 140,000. We currently publish quarterly and are distributed through schools, libraries, stores, and community centers throughout the New York Metropolitan area; as well as, Newark, NJ; Philadelphia, PA;  Chicago, IL; and New Orleans, LA.

Where are we going?

Since its inception in 2001, Kids X-Press, Inc., has published the work of more than one thousand children. The potential is unlimited, but our direction is clear. Kids X-Press, Inc., will have a national and international presence! Our magazine will be distributed into the hands of over one million children, and our workshops will reach out to the thousands of under-served children in the hardest-to-reach areas.
