Letters written from students to Holocaust victims and survivors. The letters focus on the
hardships holocaust prisoners faced.
January 23, 2014
Dear Lisi Winternitz,
May God protect you and bless your heart. You have been through so many
hard times at such a tender young age. If you have died, may God open the
golden gates of heaven for you. No one could possibly imagine the pain and
suffering you and your family were forced to endure. It makes me sad when
I think about how ruthless the Nazis were to al of the victims trapped in
the horrors of the Holocaust. I also felt angry about how your own teacher
spat in your face and cal ed you a filthy Jew. It is a shame that people were
so easily brainwashed to think that al Jews are evil. It must have been
hard for you to learn that both of your parents and brother were kil ed so
horrifical y. You have been through torture and extreme discrimination just
because of who you are. Jews weren't al owed in any public place and could
onlyshop at certain stores during certain hours which I could not even
imagine. I know that life would never be the same for you and that you
wil never forget this tragedy.
I wil always remember you, your bravery and your story.
Sincerely,
Kitania Fitzgerald
